The Woodland Hills Girls Basketball team took part in the 2019 Governor’s Challenge. The Governors Challenge Basketball Tournament held in Salisbury, Maryland, is the largest holiday basketball tournament in the country. In its 39th year, the Governors Challenge brought nearly 130 teams together on Dec. 26-31, 2019.
South Lakes (Va.) 2021 forward Brianna Scott tallied 26 points and 10 boards to lead the Seahawks over Woodland Hills (Pa.), 61-58. Junior 2021 Forward Peyton Pinkney led the Wolverines in scoring with 17 points.
The All-Star experience capped the opening day, and saw McLean (Va.) 2020 guard and Drexel commit Elizabeth Dufrane win the Delmarva Power 3-Point Shootout, while Woodland Hills (Pa.) 2022 guard Jazmine Dunn took the Skills Challenge sponsored by Cedric Armwood.
On the second day of girls’ play at the 2019 Governor’s Challenge, WOODLAND HILLS (PA) defeated WALT WHITMAN (MD) 49-43. 2022 guard Jazmyn Fisher had 12 points and 2021 forward Peyton Pinkney 11 to lead the Wolverines to a consolation victory. 2020 guard Anna Krush had 14 points for the Vikings.
